La régions Nouvelle-Aquitaine
La Nouvelle-Aquitaine est une région française créée le 1er octobre 2016 par une décision du Conseil régional du 27 juin. La région a été créée le 1er janvier 2016 sous le nom provisoire d'Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou-Charentes par la fusion des anciennes régions Aquitaine, Limousin et Poitou-Charentes. Ce nom provisoire a été formé à partir des noms des régions fusionnées dans l'ordre alphabétique.
La Nouvelle-Aquitaine est la plus grande région avec 84 061 km², juste devant la Guyane française, et compte 5 956 978 habitants (au 1er janvier 2017), ce qui en fait la quatrième région en termes de population. Il est divisé en douze départements : Charente, Charente-Maritime, Corrèze, Creuse, Deux-Sèvres, Dordogne, Gironde, Haute-Vienne, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques et Vienne. Elle a des frontières (dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre) avec les Pays de la Loire, le Centre-Val de Loire, l'Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, l'Occitanie et l'Espagne.
Le centre administratif de la région est Bordeaux.
